County Councillor Clair Powell

Clair grew up in Hay-on-Wye and attended Hay C.P School followed by Gwernyfed High School. After this Clair joined the then Powys Fire Service and became the first female firefighter in Hay-on-Wye. She also worked for the successful family business in Hay. After marrying Toby, Clair moved to Gwenddwr near Erwood.They have two children, William, 7 and Katie, 5. Clair worked as a Playleader and Learning Support Assistant at Archdeacon Griffiths School, Llyswen. She has also studied Playwork and Children’s Care, Learning and Development through Coleg Powys. In 2006/2007 Clair served as County Chairman of Brecknock Federation of Young Farmers Clubs which has over 600 members. She started working for Roger Williams MP in January 2007. Clair enjoys campaigning, especially on local and rural community issues and recently won the title of Farmers Guardian Campaigner of the Year. Clair said on becoming elected, “I am looking forward to serving all the residents of Bronllys Ward. I believe that the residents of Powys deserve to have a say in how their local taxes are spent and as a councillor I will do my best to keep the residents of the ward informed and I will try to enable residents to use their democratic rights in the decision making process’s that affect their every day lives.
