Following my recent advice surgery in the ward I have been contacted by residents in Bronllys regarding the ‘39’ Stagecoach bus on the Herefordto Brecon route. 

I understand that the bus that is used is not fully accessible and this is causing problems for elderly people and people with pushchairs or buggies.

I raised this issue with Mr John Forsey, Passenger Transport Manager at Powys County Council. 

He has initially informed me that the 39 service between Brecon and Herefordis a commercial bus service – i.e it receives no funding from Powys County Council to operate, therefore the council have very little influence over what vehicle they should use on this route. All local bus services must be fully accessible by 2015. However I was pleased that Mr Forsey was meeting with Stagecoach (on a separate issue) earlier this week and agreed to raise these issues with them.
